Project-based learning allows students to apply what they are learning in real situations and see their efforts have measurable impact. It allows students to experiment, to try new things, to fail and to learn from those mistakes. It is the ultimate reverse classroom experience and it brings learners and educators closer together in the co-creation of knowledge.

I have advised undergraduate students in study abroad, service learning, and NSF-funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates. I have also developed a multi-component research training course for medical residents in Liberia for USAID-UMASS.
